Without light pollution country folk, with awe, witness the infinite depth and breadth of the star-studded night sky. This profoundly and fundamentally informs them how relatively insignificant they are.

City folk with light pollution, on the other hand, do not have this perspective. They can be not stuck of their profound insignificance in the grand scheme of things. Not having this perspective and point of reference can mistakenly lead them to believe that they are “the center of the universe”. This, in turn, breeds an exaggerated and non-productive sense of self-centeredness, self-importance and pridefulness.

Light can obscure as well as enlighten. It can pollute the measure of self importance. Sometimes we cannot “see the light” because of the light.
