Imperfect Perfection

We learn more from our mistakes than our successes. We use our brains more in the attempt to determine why we made mistakes and how not to repeat them in the future. Maybe it is the mental anguish, the pain, associated with our messes that get our attention. In contrast, we seldom examine our successes. No pain, no gain. It is said, “Use it or loose it.” This is true when it comes to exercising our bodies. When it comes to our brain, the more we use our brains the more they grow. Our brains build more connections, synapses, as we learn. We learn to be more capable, stronger and resilient through the process of overcoming challenges. On the other hand, if life was perfect, there wouldn't be any challenges. We couldn't grow, become stronger, learn or become more resilient. We would be mindless, directionless kumquats canned in a preservative of perfection.

Perfection is vastly overrated. Perfection is not perfect.

If life was perfect there would be nothing to look forward to. We wouldn’t have a reason for getting out of bed. Without mountains and valleys life would just be plain.

The imperfect life is perfect.

All we can do is our imperfect best.
