Knowledge is Power

Most of us have heard that knowledge is power.  Sir Francis Bacon noted this almost four hundred years ago.  It makes sense, doesn't it?  This is called conventional wisdom.

.

   But . . . It’s wrong!

.

   Knowledge is NOT power.

.

   If knowledge is power:

.6

  • there would not be obese doctors, nurses or dietitians
    from unhealthy eating.

  • we would all be eating properly because we know better.

  • we would all exercise.

  • no one would smoke, abuse alcohol or use addictive drugs

Since knowledge isn’t power, what is?

.

Action is power

.

   Action always gains knowledge.

   Knowledge without action gains nothing.

.

Action with knowledge is more powerful.  Therefore, knowledge is a power amplifier, not the power.

.

"Knowledge is of no value
unless you put it into practice."

 Anton Chekhov - 1900

.

Imparting the value of action takes priority over imparting knowledge. Knowledge is a product of mental and physical action.  The student or student of life who takes action, is more active mentally and physically, will gain the most knowledge.

"What we have to learn
we learn by doing."

Aristotle
Greek Philosopher
384–322 BC

Action, with knowledge, is the only combination that can prevent, mitigate or conquer a pandemic.

The information,
in the the think piece
and in the books offered,

is useless if not used.

We are all guilty
of the good that we did not do.

Words pass.

Deeds last.
